CHATEAU LES CARRASSES WEDDING
Grace and Joe’s Chateau Les Carrasses wedding was a wonderful occasion. The chateau is very local to me and one of the most stunning wedding venues in Languedoc-Roussillon. It was a pleasure to shoot there. It was early October so the weather at this time of year in unpredictable. The reports promised rain all day but we were lucky and escaped it. We had low cloud, which actually made for some very atmospheric images.
The Preparations
Joe, Grace and their families and friends were all staying at the beautiful Chateau. Chateau Les Carrasses. The great thing about al your guests staying in one place is that you have so much more time to catch up with them all. My day started in Grace’s suite. Grace and her bridesmaids were busy applying make up and getting very excited about what lay ahead.
Joe and the guys all got ready over at Joe’s cottage. The usual confusion over how exactly to do a pocket square ensued. The Cristal was popped and toasts were made before we took a few group pictures of the guys all together.
The Wedding Ceremony at Chateau Les Carrasses
Ray Thatcher, the wonderful local celebrant from Weddings, Words and Wishes conducted the ceremony. Ray always seems able to make the ceremony relaxed and personally. The best man pulled out a couple of Haribo rings before finally presenting the real ones after much laughter. The couple signed their certificate in the amazing greenhouse at Chateau Les Carrrasses.
The Photography
I like to shoot in a hands-off relaxed way; capturing personalities, emotion and fun. We took ten minutes for some pictures of Grace and Joe. I choose gentle direction as opposed to anything cheesy. A few family groups were shot too.
I loved shooting this Chateau Les Carrasses wedding, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

The Awards
I was over-joyed to received two awards for my images of this Chateau Les Carrasses wedding from the Wedding Photojournalist Association. Judged by picture editors, freelance photojournalists and Pulitzer Prize winners (who do not work in weddings!), it’s a huge honour.
